Problem wasnt that I was sending him something he couldnt play, it was that when I sent it from my P900, he didnt recieve anything. His 6600 didnt even start to download an MMS or anything so its probably just that cross-network video messaging isnt up and running yet.

With regards to the Nokia 6600, it records in 3gp and doesnt automatically support MP4 (he needed to download PV Player to be able to play those), so a video message sent from the P900 probably wouldnt be able to be played on a 6600, but one he sent to me would probably be okay.

Going down the pub later, and meeting up with my mate who has the 6600. I will get him to try and send a video message to me.

Hi I have a P800 on Orange and I have video messaged a Nokia 6600 on Orange, and an email address, both video messages were received fine. Way back in April before video messaging was even launched I received a video message from my friend who had the Nokia 7650 on the Orange network. I don’t think it matters if a network has launched video messaging or not, because as far as I know the video file .3GP is just sent as a file attachment.. Video messages should be sent in the .3GP format and not as a MP4 file. All mobile videophones support .3GP so there should not be a problem with sending video messages in theory. One thing that could restrict video messaging is the maximum amount of data that can to be sent in a MMS message. On Orange it is 100KB, I don’t know how much other networks allow, so this could prevent a video message being received as most video messages are about 100KB and some networks might only allow MMS message up to a maximum size of 50KB for example. Hope this is of some use.

Ian
