@LordMike:
Do you know that there are people who are e-mailing me saying I requested they e-mail me for a copy of Lemmings...
Hmmm... I do not condone piracy, I think developers should get paid for their hard work... unless they are stupid and call their program something like an a*s and give it away for free with source code.
Can you please SHOUT AT THEM TO PM YOU AND ASK THEM NOT TO E-MAIL ME...
Ok, not your fault... PEOPLE, PLEASE READ LORDMIKE'S MESSAGE PROPERLY. AJACK HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH LEMMINGS...
Ahhh... better.... so, how's everybody today?

Sorry Ajack, I think that some people shouldnt have computers, since they don't have the ability to read.
This was freeware when I downloaded it. Nothing about "if you download this then you are not allowed to send it to other people" or any other BS like that. SomeOne is the one who ported it. He/she is the one who should get the credit.
So this is infact not piracy. Not in Sweden.

If the license it's distributed with. Is not valid. Then it falls back on normal copyright laws.
That means, that if the software was distributed as freeware, but DMA found out it was using their art and graphics for the game. Then the license would become invalid and fall back on normal copyright laws.
That's why you also have to own a copy of Doom to actually play most of the open source doom copies out here.(Some might have some selfmade maps, and such, which is legal).

I don't know about any license, since I haven't used the file itself. So I have no clue if it's permitted to mail the file to people or not. Since I didn't have to agree to anything when I downloaded it.
And since I haven't even tried the file, I don't know about any such copyrights. For me it's just a file with a name which could be anything.
Am I in deep water or playing safe here?

Well you would probably be able to plead incompetent. Since it's not legal to judge an incompetent person.
If you did not knew that it was illegal, you shouldn't be able to be punished.
Somewhat like how it goes when you're pledging insane. You weren't competent to stand behind your own actions.
(that's somewhat how danish laws work atleast)

And swedish laws are more like. "You can lend it to family and close friends" But there are no such thing as a definition of a close friend. Exactly same thing with copies.
Not sure on the new laws, something about the police won't do anything about it. They don't have the resources so the company would have to get to me themself without much help.

I don't see any crime in sharing this file. The sharing bit is not illegal and nor is the file. It's just another port, that's all! Let's say that everyone running it owns a copy of the original Lemmings. Who knows?
Now a tip for the ones that got the chanse to get hold of the game. You can reduce it's size to ~500kb (a third of the original) with Stacker!

i think it's all bull* !! i mean the guy wrote the engine and basis for it by himself the only thing that he used were the pics! it's not a port it's a new "old" game as i understand it.....
i don't see the point of this at all the game is old 10 yrs no one used it but whoa it's not allowed to port it to a palm or p8/900 !!??
i think all this is just greed from big companies
