sure and GM sells more cars than Porsche too but i doubt Porsche feels bad about it...

like GM, nokia targets the whole market while SE focuses on specific segments. SE does not put too much effort into the low end market segments, which is where all the volume is.

yes but who owns porcshe now? the low end market is where the profits are and with out it your company will die a slow agonizing death.

porsche, like bmw, is an independent company. both are among two of the most profitable car companies in the world. unlike your american big 3 who are bleeding like anything and constantly losing market share to imports.

just goes to show that size isn't everything.

I doubt that focusing on a small part of the market will help SE gain much market share. And that's what SE fans dream of, gaining market share, right?

I'm afraid no single SE phone is going to "kill Nokia".

i personally don't think overall market share or to be the no. 1 or 2 manufacturer is that important. after all, in any industry, profits in the low-end market are always razor thin and the risks can be very high.

what is important is that the company is profitable, which it is now becoming in only its 2nd year, and that it is the top performer or among the top performers in the segments it competes in, which it is.

the role of SE, i believe, is to create demand for services that will ultimately fuel the need for more advanced network equipment from Ericsson, and to become a channel for content from Sony. SE is not the be-all and end-all for either of its parents.

If SE so populair like Nokia, than will SE even sell more phone like Nokia.

So Flying finn, you said"no single SE phone is going to kill Nokia"

You are very wrong, look at the P900,the P900 beat the 6600,look at the T610,the T610 beat the 7250i or the T100,the T100 beat the 2xxx or the 1xxx from Nokia just like the T220.Or the P800,the P800 beat the 7650 or 3650 and the T630 will beat the 6230 to,you know why just look at the interface and the screen from the 6230 and the interface from T630

Flying finn,i think your are in dreamland from Nokia

can't really be bothered to read most posts, i fear it's much of the same age-old argument. just wishing to point out one thing here: announced a few months ago they will for the time being focus solely on the high end market. reason is that that is where their strength lies at this moment.

As needs to focus on establishing the brand name (much unlike Nokia) they will do that (via high end phones now) and not start battling large-scale in the low end market until their seat in high-end is a lot more secure than it is now.

The Nokia 6600 is lighter and more of a phone. The P900 is basically a PDA. So it depends on wht you are looking for...phone or PDA. For this reason i got the Nokia 6600. Aslo me being a student the P900 would never fit in my blazer pocket!

The N6600 certainly deserves to be the best selling Nokia. However, N6600 outselling the P900/P800??? I can't take this.
