For years in our old traditional UK pubs you will notice some have a seperate room with the 'smoke room' frosted glass window on the door, its nothing new.I agree about not smoking in some places, like supermarkets and shops, but if im walking down the street and want to smoke, then i have every right to do so! And if anyone complains about that!,then they would prolly get a fag stubbed out on their forehead!

Smoking should definately be banned ANYWHERE that smokers come into contact with non smokers, I always avoid smokey atmospheres like pubs, but at the moment there is nothing to stop inconsiderate smokers from poisoning me on the street, bus stop etc. How smokers think they have some kind of right to do this is truly beyond me!, and I really enjoy paying for their self inflicted health problems. Really good discussion about smoking. I am just curious to know how many ppl die of smoking in western countries and how many ppl die of starvation in third world countries. Because smoking isn't such deadly in Iraq like killing and starvation This message was posted from a T610

That may be true, but the topic is smoking so lets not bring any other worldly topics into I mean, AIDS is a killer too but it's got nothing to do with the topic.

Now.... this discussion is of particualr interest to me as since 1st of jan we have a law in place that basically provides every worker with a right to a smoke free working space. Working in a hotel, this is easier said then done, especially for our waiters and bartenders. It's a work in progress right now.

Thre is one point I would like to add to the current convo. Something that is commonly overlooked in the discussion of smoking or non-smoking, but will probably become an increasingly large issue.

It is a fact that people nowadays suffer from more allergies and more 'airpipe' defeciencies (or is the word 'respitory diseases'? think asthma and the like) then they did, say 50 years ago. This has to do with all the crap we breath in every day (think cars, factories and ciggies alike, also our beloved mother nature incidentally makes a contribution) and the crap we eat every day (think our food is even remotely natural?? Forget it)

As a simple result of our 'welfare' and 'economics', we have an ever growing group of ppl who have trouble breathing even when the air is 'clean'. This ever-growing group of ppl are the ones that suffer the most from smokers in their presence. And they have no defense at all.

So if only for the sake of those ppl, I would support smoke free areas and sepearte smoking areas, physically separated from eachother by shut doors and such.

just as every smoker feels he has a right to smoke, every non smoker has a god-given right not to inhale 'second hand' smoke.

You are good anti smoker. Maybe you are a doctor. I'm sure u haven't understood what I meant. Topic of non smokers places isn't so important as discussion about more important things. What about talk Spanish' bombing. I hope u r able 2 understand.
