I agree, but must say theres a simple answer... If u dont like a certain manufacturer because u think they're simply designing fones that look the same, just buy a mobile from a different manufacturer!

Wise words. D shape and design should b a kind of mobile carrying label of d brand. D form of d fone, d style of text and icons on d display, placing of d keypad etc should represent d manufacturer. That means originality and speciality.

but cars are different they cost more to re develop thats why their only tweaked. major changes are a unfrequent occurance. Phones should be renewed with significant changes every 12 months and if the company apreciates its customers it will give them the oportunity to buy a new product not just a slightly changed product. Nokia does not do this SE used to do this Panasonic and Samsung are begining to do this. Which will lead obvious changes. Its a bad business habbit manu companies fall in to.

well cars are not the only example of this business logic, all manafacturers that have quality products are recognized form design, for instance guitars - gibson and fender, now take a look at some new guitars from other manafacturers (the strange designs x, v etc.) you can't really tell if that's ibanez or what, but you will always know that's a gibson or that's a fender, though this things have also a lot to do with tradition....
but for instance apple, you will always found a apple laptop or a mp3 player from others even if it doesn't have a label on it and that's what i'm talking about, that a person sees this phone an says wow a se! not like with some other which you just don't know is it a panasonic? sagem maybe?
do you know what i mean?
the ability to recognize a manafacturer from it's products an NOT by the label on them.....

Quality instead of quantity is asked 4. D first impresson at buying a fone is d look of it, but what really counts is hidden inside, so d loud WOW must b after d trying of d fone. Design and features 2gether should impress us paralell, dat means quality.
