I won't deny we dont make nukes. I think there is nothing wrong with that (ok ok.. lets not get into another long debate on ethics of this) but we are a peaceful country unless provoked. Im sure there are a thousand arguments against my opinion.. but I do respect all of em!

You all who criticize nuclear power (especially if you have some in your country), just switch off your computer now. And unplug everything you have for about a week (not a holiday week, but a normal working week). I.e. don't use electricity for one week. Then tell how it feels.
The good thing with nuclear power is that it keeps the air clean, you need far less power plants than traditional power plants.
But of course, nuclear waste is the problem. But air pollution is also.

I think the nuclear debate is mostly fear driven, not governed by facts
I'm a strong supporter of fission energy (and hopefully fusion in the near future
But I can understand if people fear this form of power as
* The technology is difficult to understand
* The waste problem is not solved _yet_ the best current solution is
to place it in special canistars and dig them down into the bedrock,
where they should be for thousands of years.
* There has been accident, and not only in the Soviet Union (two
times at least, I'm not even sure if Tjernobyl was the worst...,
Three Mile Island someone? So even if the risk is remote when
using proper safety standards and modern technology, accidents
can happen.
The politicians knows that it is easier to lose an election by being a friend of nuclear power than by opposing it.
Most people with a technical background can probably understand the risks and benefits of nuclear power, but the vast majority don't have this background.
For me the benefits are greater than the possible risks:
* I _don't_ like fosil fuels!
* The abundant energy from nuclear power can be used to generate
hydrogen for fuel cells for cars, de-salination of sea water etc.
* I don't particulary like hydroelectric power, in for example Slovakia,
Turkey or China (how much has the three Gorges dam destroyed?)
* The other alternative forms (solar- wind-, wave- etc.) don't give
enough power with current technology
* Did I mention fosil fuels...

I don't like the "green" energy forms either! They ruins the landscape. Look for example at the giant wind parks and the massive water dam's they look awful

i don't think so. i think its good to use green energie and i don't think its ugly. but i think its bullshit that people can't vote to have a nuclear power plant or not, my country is so stupid i would be happyer if a dictator would comme and save us from these damm politicians and are stupid old king!
tip: don't move to belgium, stay away!
