I just got my Lexar 128mb mem stick duo and it's ok, no problems so far. Just loaded a movie on it and it's going great. I need a couple more 128 mb sticks fer sure!

Oh, and make sure you get the memstick adaptor with it, it's a nice freebie.

As i understand it no other manufacturers of the memory stick duo are selling them any cheaper than the original sony ones, so what the point of being too fussy on which brand you get!? unless i am very mistaken. This message was posted from a P900

Not "very" mistaken but slightly. Some of the manufacturers are selling them slightly cheaper than Sony. If they weren't, they would probably have a hard time convincing people to use their products instead of the genuine one that is recommended for the handset. Chances are if someone sees Sony, and other brand both for same price, they will go for Sony. Or maybe that's just me.

I was under the impression that Sony designed it and they sell the design to the other manufactures and they pay sony a % of what they sell.

Also if you read somewhere, I am sure I have read this that sony states that the Memorysticks were designed by sony and Scandisk together. Can someone confirm this?

in my country sony 128 magic gate cost about US$10-15 LESS than an equivalent Lexar but its because the sony one only comes with a 3 months warranty while the lexar comes with 3 years.

to my understanding Lexar does make the MS Duo for Sony. Sony just simply stamped their name on it...?

Much sony stuff is made by OEMs in Taiwan etc. This is not to suggest that the product is in any way inferior. Most companies use this subcontracting approach. Only 5 or 6 companies produce LCD screens, for example. So whenever you see a branded screen, the panel will have come from someone else.

You had me going with the 1G Lexar. Currrssesss
