I have a T39 I'm currently 'restoring' at the moment - and have repaired a couple of previous ones - they seem to be reasonably sturdy - except for the microphone connector. It's not that they break - but with the flip's constant use, they seem to work their way undone, leaving someone with a phone with no working mic.
They can be taken apart, and the connector plugged back in (very fiddly but easy!) and hey presto, a fully working T39! But I think it's a weakness of that particular flip design. I believe T28/T29s also suffer from this.
I don't know what it is, but they also seem to suffer from a poor signal. Is this a weakness of design in the aerial part?
