nice one bengal boy!!
well explained, i think even i could manage to encode a video for my phone (or at least my future phone).
The only thing i dont like about this information is that now i want a phone that has a memory slot, instead of the k700!!

P.s. I wouldn't convert the movie to MPEG1 first..
It has a bad influence on the quality!

Im glad someone has said something like this, it is what u could call constructive critisism.
It will help us all if you could explain how u would do it, or what other software u would use.
thanx!

Just skip the step of #1 DVD Ripper and go straight to PvAuthor or another encoding program...

I would search for Nokia 7650 clips or sites that provide movies for that phone....

I am glad that you fellows enjoy the tutorial...For those using an older version of PvAuthor without the device specific profiles, uninstall and reinstall the current Version 3.0. If you have the 3.0 or a licensed versin here is the page with the P800 profiles...use for the P900 as well.

If you are using this for the P900/P800 consider trying SmartMovie instead of PvAuthor...very easy and logical interface and when conbined with it's player...makes a great playback device....much smoother than the PvAuthor output...but also larger in file size so you may need 2 memory sticks in order to play a full movie as opposed to PvAuthor which I have placed the complete "ScarFace" movie on....and that's along movie.

Also, the S700 is coming to America this week for firmware evaluation and testing. Looks like Sony/Ericsson will be on target for a November introduction. I hope to get a proto to play with and encode some movies for playback on that 262k Screen in late July or August.

thanks bengalboy

I tried going straight from a divx 5 video and encoding it with pvAuthor. I am able to preview the video but when i start to encode, it basically doesn't do anything, however it is taking processor power. I can stop the encoding and it says it is writing to file, but nothing is actually being done.

I tested with a regular mpg and it works fine. But I guess I have to reencode my divx videos to mpg first before i encode them.... *sigh*..

also, with reguards to the profile for encoding. I did not use the Nokia 76xx (whatever it is) because there is no stereo profile. I used the p800's smooth stereo profile and changed the size of the output video. The sound was MUCH better (cause it was stereo) and video was slightly clearer and smoother i think.

How did the P800 profile look on the K700? Did it fill the screen from side to side like a video taken with the K700? Or was it in a window?

just curious,

whats the best program to download to you p*** or your (?pocket pc?) to play these files. It seems when i try to play them in divx, power dvd etc.... (on my comp) it plays the video but not the audio. Which of course makes it a bit tough to make sure nothing is corupt etc... it does play in pvauthor/player, is that the only program ill be able to play them on, on the computer?

Sry for all the questions, and GREAT POST
