Er no mate, its not!
So u can alter the whole process of setting a ringtone? U can prevent it from asking if u want to open a folder then if u want to play a file.....just do it!
I also don't really like the look, kinda tacky icons.

Symbian UIQ rocks only p800 and p900 have used it effectivley although Motorola have used it to some effect but the phone was hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee A950 i think also Nokia are using it on their latest media handset called Taco express i.
Yeah but don't forget NokiaSeries40 isn't symbian!
Symbian is much older than most of you guys know:
Epoc/Psion ie.
Nokia gained alot of shares with their owning of Psion but alle the other shareholders bought more shares so it's equal now!
BTW the taco was Nokia 7700 running series90!
There is also a more friendly looking Moto UIQ called A1000!

series 60 is slightly customisable. You can change menu location & look from Grid to list. Create and move folders around, like with windows. Themes can change the menu icons aswell but it does slow the phone down a little. Its not perfect, but better than most phones in that respect.

why are you dyslexic my firned is and he has trouble with phone menus. Where as i find then straight forward and simple. S60 is a lot more powerfull than the SE UI on say K700 i would love the K700 to have the S60 UI i would be able to run smart movie on it or play ngage games.
don't compare a smartphone to a regular phone.
If you want to compare SE UI to nokia UI then don't involve Nokia's symbian Series 60. Compare SE UI with Nokia's Series 40 since they're in the same category. and SE UI just blows nokia's Series 40 out of the water.

Agreed. SE UI is far from Series 60 which is designed for smart phone. Still I couldn't stand 6600 UI because it's not logical enough *for me.* For example, when trying to connect to a BT headset while BT is still off, I select the headset name, and choose 'connect.' It asks me if I want to turn on BT! Duh...is that a trick question?

Why can't it turn on BT automatically when attempting to connect!
And when I need to select multiple items, I have to dig down through submenu to select each one, instead of just using one button.
These are just a few annoying glitches in Series 60. Otherwise it's not bad at all in terms of 3rd party applications, and what they can do. One of my favorite was MiniGPS where it detects cell sites and perform assignable tasks (alarm, change profile,..etc). Very cool. The new 7610 is a good improvement over the 6600 in terms of speed, and a few UI improvements.
But when it comes down to just plain user-friendliness, I still prefer SE UI.

are you saying that s60 is just a notch or so above k700? In terms of user experience and satisfaction, I mean.

What a mess in that head (an everyone else's for that matter)!!
OK. Explaining:
There are two things in terms of software: Operating Systems and Interfaces.
Symbian is an Op System. Nokia is using Symbian 6.1 only (for now) in it's 7650, 3650, 6600, etc, and SE is using Symbian 7.0 in its Px00 series.
Now Series 60 is an Interface made by Nokia to use over Symbian 6.1, UIQ is an Interface made by UIQ to use over Symbian 7.0.
Series 40 is a Nokia interface for use over Nokia's own Op System, not Symbian.
Other brands are using Symbian 6.1 and Series 60 because Symbian sold rights to use the Op. System and Nokia sold rights to use it's Interface.
Clear now?
