Do people really use their Pxx0 as Mp3 players? Playing music must kill the battery life...
For anyone that does - how long does your battery last on average between each charge?
I can see its useful sometimes.. even though I've got a iPod. An device of the qualities of an iPod + Pxx0 would be excellent!

well i used it quite often if i was waiting for something lets say for a bus but i don't use it anymore i just can't listen to music with those headphones....
anyway about the memory-battery thingy, i saw someone mentioned it and yeah that's completely true i know for a fact that if you have a 256mb card and a 5mpix camera lets say sony v1 you won't get any battery left when you fill the card, i personally think that we should look at battery prices
though i would definetly fill a 512Mb card in a moment...

I think the that a gigabyte of storage for a phone is a little over the top in theory, moreso for the P910...
Maybe it would be justified for the MS phones, (yep the XDA series again!) - if we take the watching of movies for example, the P900 is pretty much at it's limit processor-wise with 120MBish videos, the XDA2 on the other hand surely has a little more headroom, even with it's bigger screen...
For mp3's, well 1Gb ain't really all that much - whilst you can buy cringingly small flash media players, a 1GB card would only manage around 15-20ish albums of average length and quality... but of course, mp3s would not be the only thing on there - we oculd have high(er) res images and videos, ringtones, notes, programs etc.etc... I suppose a 1GB card could give storage for a range of things, but would ultimately provide more convenience in not having to constantly add/remove files, but just keep them on there, all cluttered up and all, for when you want them... if you are prepared to pay for this privilege then so be it...
The battery thing it very valid though... for a while now I have found that available battery technology just doesn't cut it with these kind of things... and it is this that limits the true potential of mobile devices, the size thing has been pretty much mastered, so perhaps the 1Gb card is pretty pointless after all... I have no doubt that everyone will either go out and buy one or save up to get one just because you can though! ...

Re: 1GB for megapixel pics et al;
Using my Sony DSC V1 5MP camera I can fit around 200 pics at the highest setting on a 512k card so 1GB should be no probs!
512mb memory stick pro costs around £170, so £150 for a 1 Gb Pro Duo is fine with me if this is indeed the cost!
You'd never fill a 1 Gb memory card with pics or apps, however, it would be a fantastic size to put on MP3's and mpeg4's!!!
Ps...if it isn't ebnough...buy another card...that's one of the reasons they're removeable people!!!

@ stewart01, i use my phone as an MP3 player, i spend a lot of time driving a van and as the phone is in a cradle with a charger attatched the battery life is not an issue.

I'd get a card and fill it with mp3's; with 15-20 albums on there the pxx0 would be a reasonable music player at last. The only reason I don't use my p800 for music more is because I get tired of having to keep copying different albums onto the card everytime i get bored of the one (or at most two) i've got on there at any one time. with a gig of storage, you can have a reasonable choice of music installed that you aren't going to tire of so quickly.
it's not about sitting down and listening to a gig's worth of music in one go - obviously the battery wouldn't manage that - it's just having the choice on there for when you do want to listen to something for half an hour. As it is, i find my p800's perfectly capable of keeping me entertained for an hour on the bus, without battery drain becoming an issue.
as for the price of these MSD's - it's supply and demand. as 1 gig becomes the norm, and the market fills up with more and more devices that can use it (such as the P910 and presumably the S700?), the price will drop. just out of interest, does anyone know if 1 gig is a specific limitation of the PRO format, or just the largest they happen to have made so far? if larger sizes come out in the future, then obviously that will affect prices too.

Im a Pro cyclist so I spend about..... along time on the bike and I listen to my P800 as a MP3 player, I always ride longer then the battery will last. I get about 4 and a bit hours from my batter! which is not so good, Thats why I have two batteries for my phone and even still if I do realy long rides I will use two whole batteries and have nothing left for the end of my ride!
