I used a demo of this device at CompUSA last week, and although it seems like a very "connected" PDA (with phone functionality), it is HUGE! Definately not a good replacement for the P900, unless you want (or don't mind carrying) something bigger and heavier.

I like the PocketPC platform (or whatever they are calling it now), but that is basically because I like some of the games that are available for it. I don't need a powerful PDA solution yet. The P900 is definately has enough PDA-power for me. I just wish there were more applications available.

The screen is big, 240x320, but the fonts are bigger also. So you actually do not see more on the screen than on a P900's 320x208. That even with the smallest font selected.

You may want to check out the 6315 forums over at Howards ... there a slew of problems being reported with respect to BT, GPRS, and WiFi. To the point where the device is rendered useless until a soft-reset.

Although the product seems "cool" - HP (and PocketPC for that matter) is notorious for sucking battery. Anticipate approx 2% loss of battery for each minute of WiFi.

The P900 - imho - is the best out there as the utlimate phone/pda.

Just waiting for a firmware upgrade ...

I think it is a great concept with all the connectivity and the features. However, I don't like the look and feel of PocketPC. Too plain and when I hold it, I have the feeling I am working another PC.
That's why I like the Symbian platform with all the themes, little icons (phone, fax, mobile in the contact section), the different colors and so on. It is just a lot more exciting to work a Symbian fon than a pocket PC one.

I have a XDA2 running Windows Mobile 2003. At a first glance I was very impressed with it. The WMP is great as well as the audio speakers, but after a few days it get very difficult to use it as a phone, you really need to use two hands. The concept of the P900 Jog dial is definatelly a killer feature. I can use my P900 easily with only one hand. The internet access is not good too, the Pocket Internet Explorer sucks, I much rather P900 Opera.
Anyway I didnt use the HP PPC Phone you are discussing but my impression using the XDA2 was not that good,lt is a great PDA but not that good as a Phone, I still prefer Symbiam OS because of the little details.

Best,

It's the details that make me a happy Symbian user. I returened my IpaqHP6315 for three reasons. one- the synch software crashed my PC, so that was out of the question. two - device crashes too sometimes. three - GPRS internet access did not work.
