well....... as I've never been banned I don't know how that works.... but this thread appeared to me to be an open request to know why others have been banned... which is something I think is utterly wrong.

When somebody is banned he or she would do best to contact the site admin to get the full picture (although to me it would seem that usually one must have some idea of what it was that was off limits? ) as other members obviously don't know either. But it is (obviously) not my or our concern to find out why any particular member was banned.

And a banned person being allowed to spam the PM boxes of others.... is a bit questionable as well, don't you think laffen? I know I wouldn't want to be dragged in to some dispute by people whio are not even supposed to be on the site anymore.

Unless its a permanent ban, maybe you still have access to some features? Where are the moderators, this issue needs clarifying.

@methylated_spirit, he does know exactly why because I PM'd him the reason and gave him a chance to reply, which he did so I know he read it. enough said about that.

I agree totally with Vlammetje's posts regarding this thread

Also the forum rules are on the page where you register. You can see that page if you click here (hmm... only works when you are not already logged)

Indeed it says at the top of the page...

Please read the Esato Forum rules before registering.

Any community, whether it is the community you live in, work in, play in or whatever has rules and guidelines that need to be followed in order to keep the peace. These rules help make this forum work but certainly do not cover every eventuality so common sense on the part of members is required to realise what is acceptable behaviour, and what is not, is also required and similarly the moderators will make a judgement on whether they think a post is appropriate.

I can assure you that banning is not taken lightly and I often make a a judgement based not only on the case in hand but also the past attitude of the person in question to determine whether this was a one off heat of the moment post or a trend from that person.

I am confident we will never have a hall of shame but I really hope we don't have to ban too many people

Since I was on vacation back then, can someone explain me what damo55 did as I have no idea what this is all about or at least send me a PM if its not allowed to be discussed in this topic? Was it the same guy who created the topic "Apology"?

No, please, lets keep individuals out of this and only talk generally about banning... if indeed we need to

goodness........ energetic what's it to you???

erm..... to whomever inquired about the smilie....... i use it to illsutrate that I personally am stumped on the matter..... that I feel like an idiot... or that I think the topic at hand is idiotic.

I'd much like a 'Doh!' smilie but there isn't... so I tend to use this one instead. Not sure if that it was how it was intended though

Wow perverted because, having never heard of people getting banned, you want to know how and why people get banned quite a choice of word... perverted because we obviously all know (or should know) that banning exists... wanting to know why somebody else has been banned.... to me certainly seems perverted. If I misunderstood I apologise but that is what I read iin this thread.

OK, so I'm not going to find out the procedure (unless I'm on the receiving end) OR how banned people can PM. I already fully understood that all Forums will have complete idiots/rebels/lynch mobs and how a list of banned people and reasons would only fuel their cause.

Seriously I did not know people could get banned hence my questions.

Apologies if my naivety raised anyone’s blood pressure unduly.
