have you tried the phone?

Yes I have tried it

Ive been using it for the last 1― day - im responsible for phones in my company and allways gets testphones from our supplier to see how they fit in our environment. And my opinion is that its an ok phone - but nothing special. A litle bit dissapointing actually for most people I think except die hard Siemens fans.

I agree with you that the missing mp3 player is not a big issue as such - but I think alot of other people consider the missing music playback a bigger issue than I do. Personally I think a phone of today of this class should have atleast mp3 ringtones.

If you just look at it as a standard phone - its a good phone - but I think most people expected more from it then they get.

I had some other quirks with it - but wont mention them because I consider them to be bugs that propably (hopefully) will be fixed. All phones have bugs so I wont bring out those, cause that would give a false negative impression imho.

Some S65 drwabacks:

- Can't play MP3.
- Can't play AAC.
- Limited video recording (30 sec or so).
- No voice dialing.
- No radio.
- Lower screen resolution than K700.
- Slightly bigger and heavier.
- Larger battery capacity, but last between 1-1.5 day (so far).
- Can give you hearing impairment (fixed next week).
- Small internal memory (11 MB).

Some S65 advantage:

- Slightly cheaper than K700.
- Expandable memory.
- Bigger screen.
- Mega pixle camera.
- Blue tooth 1.2 (think K700 has 1.1).

i hope that all that the phone(s65) lacks will be solved by an update. nowadays, phones features are depending on updates...either to fix bugs and add some features. i think S65 we be that. let us not just judge the phones capacity etc.... all brands has loopholes. but for me, S65 will be my next phone.

Every time a new phone reaches the market with missing features people start to hope they will be added in "next" upgrade. The truth is, it never happens. At best the manufacturer adds those fetures in next phone they release instead (making more money that way).

Lets face it, if you need some of the missin features in S65 you better buy K700 or other similar phone. Beside that, some of the drawbacks I mentioned requires HW upgrade (radio, screen with higher resolution etc.).

well - BT transfer speed is 24kb/s on k700 - and only 8kb/s on S65

thats the important thing really

and I totally agree about the missing features
I know lots are hoping for features like mp3 etc to be added in coming firmwares or as javaapplication - but beleive me, this wont happen.

What you buy now is what you get - and that wont change.
Only bugs get fixed in firmwares.

I also read alot of nonsense posts about playback of all kinds of musicfiles on different forums from people who dont know what they are talking about - hoping that if they just do this or that then it will magically play music.

It wont - plain and simple

The series65 platform does not support any codec suitable for musicplayback - and that wont change.

The sad thing is not that it doesnt - theres nothing wrong with the phone just because it doesnt play music. The sad thing is that some people are just so stubbarn they wont beleive it and buy it hoping that it will - and get dissapointed. This is really my main reason to post it - as information to those thinking of buying it - so that they can make a descision based on knowledge of what they are buying and not what they are hoping for.

Know before buying what it can do and buy it for what it is:

a good phone with a big screen, megapixel camera, expandable memory, a good interface and good phonefeatures - then you wont get dissapointed. If you expect more - then you are likely to get dissapointed.

Hmmm . . . at first I really though that the S65 is an oldie SE fone model Good thing that @merovingian posted a pic of it Overall, I guess the SE K700 is far much better than that of the S65 fone model !
