Syntax, you're not alone! There are (I presume) lots of people out there, including me, who find the murder of the English language extremely disturbing. Unless it's a real emergency and an SOS i needed, why shouldn't one write "your" instead of "ur"? If it's an SMS, I could perhaps be persuaded to appreciate the need for the short form (can't call it an acronym). But the way it's spread in emails and discussion forums, it only leads me to believe some people are a trifle lazy, not wanting to type the whole word.

Cmon man

Nobdy’s murdrng English lngg

On the contrary English’s th bst and smplst lngg

I presume tht everybd can read ths, and blv it, many ppl use abbreviations (abrvtns) or as y call them acronyms, in their daily job, w/out (without) gaining at cost (eg sms)

y said it by yrslf: so many ppl use abrvtns in forums, they cant be wrng

Actually, Babis, there is no such thing as "best and simplest language"

As an English teacher and an Applied Linguist, allow me to be slightly offended.

1. as english teacher why don't you try find a more appropriate nickname like symbiatico-linguistatico
2. you are probably in the beginning of ur career with studies only in english. when u proceed to other languages as well u'll find out that english lang. is by far the easiest to learn and t4 quite simple
3. u r rite. there is no best language but there is the one and only language for computers and high-end devices and t4 the best to use

@MikLSP
I'd always thought Series 40 was the one that the 'Brick' ran...

Better to be corrected than to be wrong...!

Greatings Babis,

I can't find a relation between a nickname and one's own profession! At the time I chose the nickname, I was watching a movie, Simpatico, while using a Symbian-based phone. The rest is history.

As for No. 2, no I've been studying and teaching English for almost two thirds of my life. And I am comfortably fluent in a few other languages, and my native one as well.

Anyway, all what I intended was a humorous comment that you probably took too seriously; it was all "tongue-in-cheek", so to speak.

I'm glad you agree that there's no such thing as "a better language". You'd be surprised how irrelevant some languages are in other parts of the world, English included.

Yes, I study, teach and use English every day; but that doesn't make English in any way superior, or inferior, in comparison to any other language.

Have a nice day now. The Olympics were great this year, by the way
