Never heard of hitchhikers guide?? Where have you been?

Alistair Mclean books aint bad, HMS Ulysses is a brilliant read. Dune by Frank Herbert is great. That one by Bruce Sterling, oh crap whats the book called, aww crap! Its great anyway. Its about a guy who goes on a whaling expedition on a planet where the sea is actually dust, but really he's away to score some drugs that the whales produce. Its quite different, but its good.

for a few great, short reads you must pick up The Gambler by Dostoevsky, Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway and Cat's Cradle by Vonnegut.

another one I just remembered is pretty much any book by Dave Barry.

Dave Barry started out writing humourous articles for some US papers incuding things like how to make a board.

his books include "Babies and other hazards of sex", "homes and other black holes" etc etc

worth checking out if you never heard of him

I like dragonlance. The dark tower series by stephen king are excellent as are all of douglas adams books. The best however is of mice and men . @masseur: you just gave away the entire hitchhiker's guide plot. ;-) This message was posted from a T610

I don't think I gave too much away about hitchhikers. I was just trying to give the "feel" of it

I haven't seen big trouble yet but I do like Tim Allens humour too and have seen most tool time episodes and also his movies. I'll add that one to my list then if its based on Dave Barry!
