My HBH-300 will probably get upgraded tomorrow (my friend at SE will do it for me), and I sure am looking forward to getting rid of the annoying beep. Otherwise it has worked flawlessly, itīs just such a good headset!!

However, can I please clarify that some of you have had the firmware on your HBH-300 headset itself upgraded to R2B? I want to check because I've spoken to Sony Ericsson (UK) several times today, and they are utterly insistent that it is absolutely
not possible to upgrade the headset firmware. They say that only hardware faults can be fixed (e.g. echo, or crackly sound). Sounds wrong to me, but I want to make sure I've got my facts straight before I go back to them again.
I've used a T630 phone to verify that the firmware in my HBH-300 is indeed R2A.
Any ideas where in the UK I can get the upgrade done? If not, I'll be in Austin, TX in a few weeks, so anywhere there I can do it?

Yes you need to get the HEADSET firmware updated. Need to take it to a service centre...
