You must be joking, right? For that money you get a K700i and a 4Mpixel canon ixus i. Then you have an equally good phone, BUT a camera that outperforms all phones (probably those released within the next few years too) I will have to stress that, this is NOT due to the size of the sensor (4 megapixel), BUT the lens quallity and the new algorythms used by canon digic processors.
Why the hell can't SE come up with something that can match the K700 & ixus combo? Consider that they are saving a lot of money by only having one battery, manuals, package, storage place, advertising, you name it. Two different products should never be able to be better than the combination of them, at the same price. So what is wrong with SE? I say: drop the price to 150 euro above K700, or "censored"!
The S700 display is not extremely beautiful. For that money you could get 200.000 pixels, not 76800 (240*320). SE's margin on the S700 must be huge, but it has to cover costs caused by all bugs. That is probably the main reason why this phone is so expensive at the moment.

Seriously though, I don't know why people are getting so stressed about this.
It's not a smart phone but it does represent cutting edge in terms of fshion, design, non-smartphone spec (only just about on the last point though).
Give it until end of Nov and suddenly you will see it 'free' on contract.
Personally, I think it worth a MAXIMUM of £350 sim free.

Digic processor is not new if you believe that. It was introduced along with Canon Powershot G3, S45 and V3. Du pratar som du vore någon teknikguru utan att egentligen riktigt veta vad du pratar om.

I don't want to be any cocky but my computer cost almost four times more than that and that was without a display whereas my laptop cost almost five times more than that.

I never said anything about what SE intended to do. I just recounted what is possible to achieve for the money and said you were a bit too enthusiastic about this phone. A +200k-pixel display (found on the canon pro1) could very well be fitted considering the 6500SEK price. For 500EUR, I would like to see a 130k-pixel display from the sony DSC-828 (or similar). Of course you cannot find such a large resolution display on a gsm yet, but I think we can all figure out why.
The digic might be old, but it will be good enough in a camera phone for a long time. Many people wonder why some digicams have such horrible picture quallity, they blame the sensors, in most cases their resolution, when in fact the algorythms are the problem.
I believe that for 500 euro you can sell a phone with 1.3 mpixel (1/1.8" CCD = the iso can be cranked up to 400 without too much noise), nice fixed lens (
I won't even bother to comment on the swedish part of your post, personal attacks are just pathetic.

Most of your things are totally irrelevant because I'm pretty sure most of us here know that built-in camera in mobile phones never can match a real camera in terms of image quality.

When Ericsson T68m was new I bought it for 686 Euro here in Sweden.
Now Sony Ericsson S700i is priced at 713 Euro.
New phones is always expensive.

I would think its fairly obvious that SE are getting the fast money back off of the contract people first, cos at the price its set at from release, they, like me, are the people getting the best deal on the phone.
At £119 on a £35 pm contract, I dont think the phone is expensive for what I get out of it.
However , there is no way I would pay £500 for this baby, and then pay for a payG sim as well !
