That's probably why. If Cingular uses the 850 band & not the 1900 band, then the P910i would lose signal in that order... green, yellow, red, none in about 1 second upon power-up.

you have any reception problems anywhere in the bay area? i was thinking of getting the P910i, rather than the "a" version, because i travel internationally a lot. i don't travel to the east coast much and mainly in the west coast. but i haven't made-up my mind yet. i'm on the cinuglar network and use a Nokia phone that has both 850 & 1900 MHz frequencies.
