Aha! But this is not money that Orange made you spend! there is a difference! You can't complain to Orange if you bought a pair of jeans with bigger pockets to carry your phone in..... that's your buying decision and your problem.

i considered it inappropriate to treat me like another customer.. i shouldnt be bothered with queues and visits to the shop

But do you know why all the other ppl were in the shop? What makes you so sure their problems weren't more serious than yours? Sorry but this is just plain rude behaviour and quite inexcusable imho. Also... take it from someone who knows....... being calm, friendly, patient but firm accomplishes a great deal more than cutting the queue, screaming and making a scene and making other (perceived 'nicer') customers suffer (wait longer) because of your presence and your own vision of how serious your problem really is.

I think we need to get this topic back on track regarding the problem with the phone.

You really need to speak to orange regarding the problem and also go into the shop to see what is the problem.

If there is a queue, then queue. As far as i would be concerned, I am no different to any one else. So even if they have made a boob on me, then yes i would be mad, but hey life is too short to bicker and prob to short to queue (but its what we do)

Orange do seem to be doing the right thing, or trying to. Let them

Your contract is regarding the airtime you purchase from Orange and not your phone. this is a Luxry sweetner that they give you.

You can do what ever you want with your phone, this is yours. If you unlock it, modify it, change it or even smash it, this is all fine. You will however invalidate your warranty, even if you unlock it without the correct unlock no. It is not illegal though to unlock your phone to any network though.

However i dont think Orange or even SE are too bothered about this. I know friends that have taken phones in for repair with differnet cases on (t610) and had the phones unlocked by other means, they still repaired it.

Go into the shop and wait if you have to. You never know, you might even come out a happy person, We are all human and we do make mistakes, at least they are trying to rectify it. How many shops try to do that now a days.

I dont work for Orange, but do sit in Call center (Technical end you know) (im also one of the good guys and dont pass the buck) I know what it feels like to be shouted, screamed, yelled and even swore at. ( i just see my self like one of them stress anger management toys!!!)
But as i say, go in and see what they want.

And last. if you did jump the queue, i would say something.

@ vlam i agree with you 100%.
@all i work in the busiest takeaway in a town centre, until you get surrounded by upto 50 drunken idiots who refuse to queue or even wait for thier food to be cooked ("if i dont get it right now, i am gonna F****** kill you"), you cant really appreciate the benefits of politeness. im not being patronising/rude or anything else its just as i read in the original post how the guy (cant remember your name ,sorry!) refused to queue, i went into work mode and his problem just went straight out of the window. im sorry but until youve been on the recieving end, especially when you get no backup from your "co-workers" you cant appreciate what its like.
a little politeness (and patience!) goes a long way.

Just because we are British, we are not necessarily right. It is the custom of other clutures to not queue - and you know what, their societies are far more efficient.

I don't queue just because I'm British, but because it is good manners. It is polite to wait one's turn, it just so happens that queuing patiently tends to be a British trait.

Secondly, it is typical of a British person to accept poor customer service. The poor service we receive is a product of this. We should not have to acept poor customer service, and have the right to complain (and yes that includes not-tipping) when we do not receive good service.

I never tip if I have not received good service and I agree that we shouldn't have to put up with bad service, however, the chap in question is being offered a solution to the problem by Orange and not simply ignored.

I would also say that there is a difference between accepting poor customer service and stoicly perservering until a satisfactory outcome has been reached. If I receive poor service in a restaurant, for example, I will not cause a fuss in the middle of the restaurant, I will speak with the manager in private and settle the matter.

I think the queuing matter should be viewed from both sides.

On khyros' side, he may be busy. He went to Orange in response to Orange's request. He satisfied Orange's request by going there but he may not have the time to queue. Think about Orange making faults evey week and you are requested to queue for an hour every week because of their fault. I think it is the feeling that khyros is having.

On the other hand, if everyone is queuing in the shop. It is difficult to distinguish who has the proper reason and should be served first. In order to prevent chaos, everyone should queue patiently in the shop and wait to be served with no exception.

Finally, if I were kyros. I will phone Orange telling them that I went to Orange shop but I was too busy to wait in the queue. Then I will tell Orange that if they want to ratify their fault and settle the matter early, they should either send a person to my office or arrange an appointment in Orange's shop after office hour to handle the matter.

Do you think Orange keeps a look at this forum?
The guy from the shop called me a while ago and left me a message in the mailbox

He mentioned several things I said in this post

1) Technical reason for having to exchange the phone (apparently Orange would bar it)

2) The queue thing! He even provided me with statistics on when is the shop very busy

3) Appointments : he said I could phone the shop and make an app. so I wouldnt only need 5-10 mins to get all sorted

4) Compensation: he said we would discuss it but they could put me some credit on my orange acc.

Thats all I remember now.. but im pretty impressed.. he even mentioned the word "my fear about exchanging the phone" and im pretty sure i didnt tell him anything

Ill go first thing tomorrow morning anyways and see what happens!
