Hey, I've got an answer from Sony Ericsson. There really are different displays from different producers (SE, Sharp, ...) with different quality used in the Z1010. So what should that be?

A software-update won't increase contrast, color saturation or color-balance in any way! The problem are the different displays and LEDS used in the Z1010.

Tuesday I was at the local Sony Ericsson Service-Partner, in order to update our two Z1010 finally on R1H and to change her Z1010 cover into red.

We went back to the shop in the evening, with the following results:

My girlfriends Z1010:
- Red Cover installed (second screw cover delivered subsequently as soon as available!)
- software-Version R1H not available for language package EU1 (only for EU4)

My Z1010:
- software-Version R1H not available for language package EU1 (only for EU4)
- display must be renewed, but it's not available at present!

The dismounted grey Z1010 Cover was deformed and damaged. The employee told me that this is normal, if you dismount a cover. It's strange to see how a Sony Ericsson worker can lose one of the two screw covers and how he falsely installed the silver lens cover.

I'm really angry now. What can I do?

So, nobody had any display quality or SE Service-Partner problems with his Z1010? Strange.

I'm telling ya now, the software update on the T68m to R8A did improve the colour and contrast (and obviously didnt change the yellowish hue of the baclklight).

If you'd like the photo comparison of a non-flashed original T68m and the T68m R8A, I'd be happy to show them!

I have the same situation. I bought it 2 weeks earlier, than my girlfriend.

My phone:
-R1G software
-battery duration between 24 and 30 h
-display is much brighter and sharper

My girlfriends phone:
-R1H software
-baterry duration between 50 and 65 h
-display is much worse than mine

I have already gone back to complain because of the battery duration and they have given me new charger and new battery, but there is no improvement. Tommorow i am going back because 24-30 h of battery duration is really way to little, especially if i compare it to my girlfriends phone.

Is there any difference betwen your and your girlfriend battery durration?
Is maybe firmware version reason, that my display is much brighter, and my battery is much much worse?

Hi there!
Let me try to help you with my personal experience.....
I've had several SE models till the actual day, and a few Nokias too.
Here what I found:
If it's important to you the color of your mobile display, be VERY CAREFUL...
It's not related with the production date, or hardware revision... the mobile manufacturers just don't maintain the quality of the displays...
Sometimes you get a real white one (believe me, the image is really amazing), sometimes you get a yellow white one (the image is very disappointing, but you can only tell the difference with a real white one side by side).
When I buy my cell phone I always ask the people who's attending me to turn the phone on, so I can just choose the one I want.
It has happened to me with my k700i.
I bought one, that I've offered to my brother. After, I order a new one for me nad guest what: yellow white....
I just went personally to the shop and chose the one I got today, with a superb image, contrast an colors.

Althoug this is just a detail, I think the manufacturers should be more tight with these kind of questions....
Usually, these models with high quality displays are so expensive, they should pay attention to the kind of lcd they use in their phones.

Maybe we should start a campaign to get this question to their attention.

What are yout thoughts about this?

Best Regards

Ricardo Marinheira

So if my girfriend takes the z1010 back, they should give her newone? And can be that the reason, why my z1010 (brighter display) has poorer battery duration?

Or if I ask differently: how much is the battery duration of your z1010 (in 3G network). Mine is between 24h-30h standby time with good network signal. During that day i have 15-25 minute talk time, and i usually send 4-8 SMS, and have 10 minutes wap browsing, and NO MP3, nor taking pictures and videos, nor playing games and without using any bletooth. I think it should last longer.

I don't understand how SE can do this with a high-quality UMTS phone. I bought it really expensive and my girlfriends Z1010 has a far better display (I posted the pic).

Today I'll get a new display. Hope it's the same amazing quality and contrast like my girlfriends mobile. It's just not fair. I'm a little bit disappointed.

Alex

ps.: I've got a standby-time of 3-4 days, my girlfriend too.

So, now I'm really angry. The guys at our SE Service-Partner did change the display, but the new display was fitted in inclined and too far on the right side. Also the internal camera sits a little too far down. Shit.
