what kind of effect does Death star have?

I think it's some kind of anti aircraft weapn.. that little beam couldn't possibly have a range of 25,000 light years...
but longer in the game, cortana says: "Halo's primary weapon systems consist of 3 deep pulse generators, that can fire deep into space... I can't even calculate how long they'll reach.." or something like that...
but still, I think it's something else, and not the pulse generators.. they are far to easy to take out...

The books are good, especially "The Fall of Reach" and "First Strike" both by Eric Nylund, and they explain the "before" and "after" of Halo the game. Amazon can get them pretty quick...
"First Strike" gives some good insight into what will happen in Halo 2, so it's definitely worth the read.
