At this point my talk of leaving the country is only half-serious. Think of how great it could be if it were done right! Just because some people spoiled a good thing doesn't mean we should give up without trying to fix it. Things need to get a lot worse for me to seriously consider leaving my country of citizenship. While I disagree strongly with so many of our policies, there really is a lot that I love about this country. I don’t want to come across as unpatriotic, because I do want what’s best for the country, it’s just that what most people believe is right for this country (and the world) is just plain wrong and they don’t realize it. I grew up in the American culture, and while I despise a lot about the music, fashion, etc in our country it has shaped who I am as a person. I love American humor, our dialect, and many other things, but the majority of the people of this country are absolutely brainwashed and clueless when it comes to the things that are important. I’ll certainly stick around as long as I can bear it, and I don’t want to just bail out of the nightmare just because I’m the one that woke up. I want to “convert” as many people as I want to while I can. Now I want to make it clear that I’m not attacking all conservatives, or all people who were for the war in Iraq, etc., because if you have a belief or opinion based on strong logical thought that’s fine, but most of the people just need to wake up and see things the way they really are because they don’t even know why they believe the things they do. If the draft is initiated then I will most likely leave the country. I don’t know if I’ll wait until I get drafted or not but that is one of the things that could make up my mind in that respect.

It's pretty scary that, after they've seen what that guy has done, half of the American people still voted him into re-election. I can live with the fact that mr. Bush got elected back in 2000, but after four years of international madness I think that half of the American people really should know better... P.S.: Somehow I feel like this would never have happened if voting wasn't limited to US citizens only.

I've heard this a few times too often as well the past few days.
Like it or not... part of all our national democracies is that we all get to choose whoever we think will do the best for our countries and our peoples.
I certainly don't vote with the best of the world on my mind, I vote for the guy/gal who I think will further MY position.
Being part of one nation means you'll just have to bear whatever the voters of another nation decide to do. Tough!
If I could vote in France I might not have voted Chirac, in UK I might very well have voted Blair even though now many brits wish to ditch him again..... in Spain I'd never have voted the creep with the mustache..... and so on and so forth. If we all get to vote in other countires we might as well merge all of them countries into one big pile of sh*t.
As much as Bush is detested in europe, if he wisn the election that mean we all oughta stfu. period.
The 'i would have done better than those stoopid ignorant blind hpocritical awful and desinterested americans' attitude that we europeans are soooo good at, won't help the relationship much.

The entire world having a f*ck Bush so f*uck the US attitude isn't gonna help. Everyone turning their nose up and walking away isn't gonna help any more than Americans who don't like it leaving the country. You have no chance to affect change if you don't stick around to do something.
Until now I have avoided these political threads like the plague. But I finally had to support Vlamm on this one.
