@jplacson: Stimulating write-up there, and the point well made. I do believe that many times peple miss the point behind smartphones. These things are mobile computers and much more versatile than most users care to know.

Like u said, going back to anything without true and advanced PDA functions now would be torture for someone like you and me. I've used an R380s, an Accompli 008 and now on the P800. The other day, I picked up my sister's MyX6 and tried doing a few things - what! The pain. The limitations!

That's me. Yet I recognise each person's right to hold their own views on this.

the "smart" thing about smartphones its just the huge variety of appz and - not only by that - the ways to personalize it, not only restricted to a few ringtones, addresses or graphics. And Iīm not sure whether "saufkollege" (boozemate) is running on a k500i - which makes my p800 kind of real mate, īcause I tell him what I drink and he tells me where on the scale I am (this is not intended as an ad but my favourite recent app..)

fetzi.. HAHAHAHA... dude, I think if you can still use your stylus... you're fine! HAHAHAHA!!!

But seriously, it is true that most people don't take full advantage of hybrids... even smartphones actually. I see so many Nokia 6230 around here... and I bet less than 15% of their owners ever go online.

Man, I even know a lot of P800 and P900 owners (p800 owners being worse) that never even thought of upgrading the Duo that came with the phone!!!! Now, cost being an issue... fine... but never wanting a bigger Duo?!?!? Man, that's weird!!! (And I hear K700i owners in here bitching about their 48MB... how can a P800 owner live with 16MB is beyond me!!!)

For most people, the T610 was more than enough phone for them to handle (I also know a lot of T610/T630/Z600 users who never went online either) ... the K700i is for me, the perfect phone for about 80% of the SE user population... it's small, and has almost all the features anyone could ever need in a phone. Some argue about the expansion slot... again, I know VERY FEW K700, and even Nokia 6230 owners who ever went above the included memory. I know quite a few 6600 and 6230 owners who never even knew their phones had a memory card (pathetic yes I know... but you have to understand... these are NON-GEEK users)

So it's also no surprise to me anymore that I've met a few P910i owners who still use the included 32MB stick... hehehehe... and others never use the included MS Office editors!!!! Man, I was dying for these editors on my P800... I was soooo thankful when I found out they came bundled with the P910!!! Now, I keep all my docs, pdfs, and spreadsheets on my Duo (encrypted of course)

I'm so thankful for the release of the SE hybrids... this is the series I'm finally happy with!

actually I havenīt been using the stylus for at least 6 months or so..
no, not because of what you think itīs just way easier to press trigger and thumb together and write with trigger nail (no, no need to sharpening or anything)..

But back to the topic - as long as three quarters of mobile humanity donīt know how to silence their phone on an incoming call without rejecting it (which means ringing for about 20 seconds or so especially in nice bars, cafes or restaurants to let everybody know youīre important and youīre still deciding whether to answer or not) and pretty 50% choose their phones only for its size and colour or whether it fits with the handbag (guess who..) Iīm not to confident the community worshiping the advance of our beloved Pxxx will rise that fast..

which makes us members of a pretty "exclusive" club

P800 to K700 is a downgrade buddy

I've had my P800 for about 2 years now
my 1st mod was the memory stick duo, I went to 128mb right away to hold my mp3s

I took off the flip and shortly after I broke the LCD, I replaced it and then broke the LCD again, I've sent it in for repair
when I get it back I'm gettin a real upgrade p800 to p910 baby
