I probably won't bother using my P900 as a remote due to the limited range. I think this is because the IR sender/receiver just isn't designed for it. Some PDAs come with special high-power ones for this purpose.
I wonder if anyone can answer this question: I have an All-for-One multi remote, which is not able to control my cable decoder. This is because the decoder uses irDA type signals (the type used for data transmission) rather than the standard ir remote signals.
Now, clearly the P900 has irDA capabilities, but do any of the remote control apps have the functionality to control devices like this?
I checked with All-for-One, and their funky touchscreen 'Kameleon' remotes do support irDA, so I might have to get me one of those. I also have a wireless video sender with built-in remote control extender, but this doesn't work with the cable box either. Annoying.
