Well, considering that PPCs give you a good 6 hours battery life... I'm not really impressed with their CPU speed.
Anyone can cram a Pentium 4 into a phone, give it 30 min battery life and claim "we have the fastest mobile phone on the market! Play the latest games...blah blah blah"
But real world use of the xScale chip isn't that practical for a mobile phone... unless you're always plugged into the wall (which kinda defeats the purpose of going "wireless")
That's like having a Porsche and a 10L gas tank.
I'd LOVE to have a faster CPU on the P-series... but not at the expense of battery life/portability. This is one of the main reasons I've always like Ericsson over Nokia... Nokia battery life sucks. Under heavy use... your phone dies within 12 hours. Even my P800 could give me 1 solid day (or 20 hours) of heavy use.
Regarding overclocking the P-series CPU... I think SE hardwired the clockspeed to prevent this... at least for now... or until they find a better CPU solution that can give higher clock speeds at lower power consumption.

Well, there might be a better solution: start coding optimized programs instead of risking your Pxxx with overclocking its processor. However, until this 'strange' method isn't just used at a regular basis by eastern-european and asian programmers, it doesn't help much... A typical example for this is Doom3's horribly coded engine versus Haegemonia's well optimized one (hehe, typical of me to bring a positive example from home) with still beautiful graphics. So, software solution might be more rational here

@jcplacson: Well articulated argument there. @ganxta: Yes, optimized coding should help out. Whichever way we look at it, I maintain that nothing will make me overclock my p800's processor. Works just fine as it is :)

hi, you guys seem interested in processors?
have you seen the video where the guy oveclocks his AMD to about 15ghz (i believe). he used liquid nitrogen - maybe someone wants to give it a go with the P series. lol
yep, the guys a local aussie dude. works for teds hardware or something like that. ive seen the computer. its insane.

i would like to overclock my fone, not to squeeze out the performance, but coz of my "have to be there, n have to see tht" attitude... i would definitely mind if my fonez getting fried, but then am ready to take the risk too!

My imate pda2k runs at 400Mhz, between that and the 128mb RAM, everything is so smooth, I know gu's who have overclocked it till 520 mhz, without any major loss of battery life. It has an Intel pxa270 Xscale.
