india has some way to go before 3g can be launched.
as u may have heard... the 3G spectrum bandwidth is being fought over by the CDMA and GSM players, each claiming the 3G spectrum as their own and touting their own technologies over the other.
since CDMA does have a strong foothold in india.. its hard to pacify both parties. Telecom Regulator is undertaking a study to see which is more beneficial. But indications are that the GSM consortium might win.
but until that's done... i doubt if mobile phone manufacturers will release new 3g models here yet.
