The P is always a touchscreen smart phone,

The higher T was always a high quality candy bar phone.

The Lower T was a low quality candy bar phone

So even within the series itself its arranged according to price and features as well as quality.

The K I believe has taken over a division of the T series,

so since there are newly established series, we cannot analyze se's arrangment, because the T is going to probably be split up into K and F

The Z has always been a clamshell phone

also Z600, is less in features than the Z1010 hence 600
So SE have shown consistency in the past unlike nokia, and will probably continue with consistency in the newer models which are likely to be

K,F,Z,P,S

Instead of

T,A,R, and the Ericsson Letters

Nokia do show some consistency.

The 7xxx phones are all weird and stupid in some way, whether in design or features, or both.

7600 - Weird shape and keypad, 3G phone that can't do video calls.
7610 - Weird shape and keypad, mono mp3 output.
7260 - Weird shape, nasty retro 1920's design.
7270 - Weird shape and keypad, nasty retro 1920's design.
7280 - Need I say anything?
7200 - Textured covers? Weird, but not that bad I guess.
7710 - There's an exception to every rule, but it does look a bit strange, even though it's actually the best phone Nokia have released in ages.

@Yazan24

sorry to continue the OT but I think SE won't like to read that the lower T-series are low quality. In fact the t100/105 and t200 are very good quality. They do not have that much features. But even then the t200 was feature-packed at the time.

All manufacturers tend to keep some confusion so as to avoid a clear ranking order from "poor" to "excellent". This way you avoid that customers of simple phones are blatantly labeled as having the cheapest phone with the least features. A bit of confusion creates room for everybody to be happy with his purchase.

I think Nokia intended it that way so that we can have something to talk about

The numbers are carefully selected so that they will give a hint of a series but will also create a mystery when one comes out that doesn't follow the trend of the supposed series. That's a very difficult feat IMO not to mention having to create a seemingly random pattern that are actually planned. Hope you understood that because I didn't but I'm sure Nokia will agree with me.

Yeah i understand, and it seems likely, but one question: Why? Why go to all that trouble?

wierd marketing strategy, sub-conscious ploy, simple boredom, 5-dimensional creativity, I don't know. Whatever it is, intentional or not, they're definitely getting attention in that area.

@yazan - I guess that's just part of Nokia's merketing strategy mate - to get the buying public - CONFUSED!

Another example was the 3310 and 3330: lets change the covers and add some wap with a firmware upgrade and call it the 3330!
