Please dont take offense over the question stated earlier in this thread, im just curious, i thought this ended a long time ago..but in one episode of the simpsons, Apu marries a complete stranger...that made me consider the posibility of it still being in use...

@folling - its no longer restricted to 'arranged' marriages in India. You can marry whoever you want to. However some orthodox families would not allow inter-caste and inter-religion marriages. However most modern people dont bother too much about this
