Hmm might wait a little longer instead of getting the D500 next month

edit: The D720 is a tri-band GSM and GPRS Series 60 phone with a 1.3 megapixel camera, support for Bluetooth, USB and IrDA. It is 101 x 51 x 24.1 in size and supports multiple media types including AAC+, Real and MP3 in stereo

From Symplification web site
* Our last coverage of the Samsung D720 suggested that it was not very likely to actually arrive. However, today there was a report by Telecoms Korea which suggests that the D720 is meant to be a shipping phone.

The article was basically an interview of Tatsuki Tomita, the Asia Pacific Business Development manager of Opera Software; and it was stated that "Samsung Electronics let its D710 users download opera browser and is to launch D720 that also supports Opera."

I never in my life thought samsung would go into symbian, i thought they might cook up another of their devilish contraptions and call it a smart phone! Apparently this one is on 3gsm. And i thought s60 was serious nokia territory! This message was posted from a K500

Yes, the UI will be identical to all other Series 60 phones.

Samsung and symbian? You got to be kiddin me!

As I said before, Samsung have already developed two Series 60 Symbian phones prior to the D720. The D700 clamshell, which was revealed two years ago, and the D710 slider. Both of which never made it to market.

Old D700:

D710 which also never made it to market:

The D720 is pencilled in for a March release. Let's hope it makes it.

There is an old saying, if at first you fail, you will get it at the third try. Personally, i really hope it meets the light of the day. I would like to see if some1 in samsung has some sense in them or not. Most prob they would have screwed this one too? This message was posted from a K500

They've been attempting to release a symbian phone for more than 2 years now since they announced D700 which also didn't come out of the market.

Wonder why they deferred their launch! Might be due to some serious flaws! This message was posted from a T230
