Ask the operator, maybe the system is under construction.

I had similar problem (full signal but can't call) until I changed the operator. After that it happened very rare.

As boba said, call up your service provider and ask if they are in the process of maintaining or upgrading their network.

Sony Ericsson havent done a good job with internal antennas in general.
Ever since it stopped the external antennas, they cause nothing but problems.
They guy on mobileburn.com feels sony ericsson phone reception is just as worse as Samsungs in general. Nokia clearly nearly always provides the best reception followed by motorola.
the antennas on SE hpones are just not stable enough.

@ dha wouldn't agree on that one, t610 antenna may be average, but I had excellent reception with my previous t65 (which also had internal ant).

How come this poor reception thingy does not affect my T230? Is it just my phone?

blayv, some of the SE phones may have excellant reception, but in general as a whole, they dont compare anywhere near as Nokias or motorola and the guy on mobileburn also pointed that out several times.
but of course, they wont stop me from using SE hpones though coz my phone reception isnt that bad,
