you're wrong.

the profits mostly go straight back into making it better than the last one, thats why technology has accellerated in this way over the last 30 years.

But do you think its fair that someones out there making software for a living, and then someone comes along and takes it for free?

I'm sure people will agree that we are all entitled to our own opinions, but this forum has rules for the reason that the majority of people are prepared to pay for something they want, not just take it.

@sngd: How would you like to get robbed? I'm sure the robber would appreciate the free stuff, But that in no way morally or legally justifies his deed.

Personally I think this topic should be locked. I think Mr. Sngd got his view through, and we to him. Further discussion would lead to flaming. I for one don't want to discuss this topic anymore, and wont be posting on this thread again.

@debu, well put!

Software companies do indeed make a huge profit, but where exactly do you think this money goes (apart from shareholders? )? I very much doubt that the company owner just fills a swimming pool with money and swims in it laughing maniacally!

Software develops - I'm currenly using an old laptop with Windows 98 on it, and also an even older one with Windows 95 on it due to my main PC being currently broken. Compared to the latest versions of windows, it's almost like being back in the stone ages! The development of programmes costs a huge amount, which is where a lot of the money goes I'm sure.

btw I'm not professing to be whiter than white here, Like many people here, I have had copies of software off friends, who themselves may have copied it from somewhere else.

In fact there's probably very few people that haven't done this from time to time, but the point is that Esato is not the place to post warez, or to advertise it due to it being illegal, and potentially gives the owners of the site a huge fine, or even gets them shut down.

i work in a national law firm. what does my place of work have to do with this??

as for what someone said about me greting bored. there right. i don;'t have time. like i said it was my personal opionion as was it to express your dismay at getting free stuff where you paid for all of yours. if you feel as though you don't want something because you think it is wrong just don't contribute.

although what many people said goes beyond opionion, one person however had the right idea in saying that he/she would not post another reply to this post. he/she obviously believes that not posting will have no bearing on mine or other peoples action. there's too much piracy etc for it to be swept under a huge rug, so we're stuck with it!

I personally will not be adding anymore replies to this post as i see no reason to do so because it will have no bearing on mine or other peoples actions (as i mentioned before)
