I know that when FW is updated, it's updated with the same FW and with the same preferences. So maybe when they were testing new FW, they were testing wap explorer too and they saved new FW with such settings.
It's possible. I know 100% that it's possible on Siemens FW. (Because I've updated FW on my Siemens SL45i a lot of times)
