They do,. if you phrase it the right way..

THis is really IRRITATING.. I know its just a matter of time and most everyday joe will do it..

But i am getting about 50% of the phones abilities.

Pardon me for being thick, but do you have to get your online update through your service provider? I understood it that if you did an update from SE you basically got all the new OS installed, if you don't make a backup of your stuff prior to doing the upgrade then it tells you that your voice dialling and wap settings etc are toast.

the only way your wap settings are going to go back on is if you do a restore from your last backup, I make the assumption that if you only do a sync after you have updated the phone you get your contacts etc back on it but you then have to do the painful reinstallation of all your programmes , wap settings mms setttings, etc.

I can say this with certainty after screwing up the first upgrade I did when the backup didn't take and I was so excited (doh!) that I just went ahead and upgraded anyway.

the next time I did it I made sure I had synced and backed up, saved me about an hours faffing about putting stuff back on.

Now on R4A10.

Hope this may help.

he wants to unbrand it ..so it would be pointless doing an on-line update as it would just put all the vodafone crap back on .He obviously is sick of not being able to change wap/gprs settings etc, as these are pre installed and you cant change them .

Basically, there are two issues here: unbrand and update.

To unbrand, flashing (or reprogramming) is needed and only an SESC or a few other shops can do that as they're the only ones who's got the programs to do that.

To update is simpler like you know, as it can be done online. I've read over and over again that it does not affect the branding status of the phone which a lot of users, especially the ones past their contract periods want to do.

I learned to differentiate the two from the many posts here. I thought I'd share it to all.

Your fone 'flashed' ? In the toilet seat bowl I guess . . . Seriously, go to your nearest SE Service Center mate. Good luck! This message was posted from a Nokia 7650
