@whiz, I'm aware how expensive SE P9xx are compared to other smartphones. I'm just curious if there are really practical advantages of a s60 phone over non-symbian phones or to be more specific non-smartphones. I'm actually asking because in my choices of phones I always failed to see the advantages of s60 phones or symbian-based phones in general. Perhaps you can enlighten me.

what i like about s60 is i can make the phone how i want it to be, if you get a non smartphone apart from some pretty poor java games and apps your stuck with what you bought on day 1. with a s60 you can add take things away the phone can be how you want it to be there are thousands of apps and games many free.
its just what you require from your phone its not necessarily better it just suits some people more than others.
i dont think its the be all and end all but it works for me, i like things like smartmovie so i can watch films on the go

The advantages i see in s60 and UIQ phones are their internet browsing capability. They both have excellent external browsers which lets one access almost all websites on the move. I doubt whether a phone like the K700 can simultaneously retrieve email, browse two websites and one wapsite simultaneously. Now, one may ask, hey many people use a phone in the way i mentioned. Atleast i do. Since the UIQ devices are beyond my purchasing power, s60 becomes the natural choice for me.

I think it depends on what you need from a mobile phone. If you really need some apps like office, picture editor, movie editor, etc. than S60 is worth although they hardly to use. In other side, non-smartphone can't do that.
If you use your phone for call, messaging, or entertainment only (music and video player, picture viewer; dont have the editor), non smart will fit your needs with easier interface than S60.
Nowadays, not only Nokia has Symbian with non touch screen (a.k.a S60 although there're also S70 and S80 now) but other manufacturers like Mitsubishi, Siemens and Samsung also do have smartphone with symbian OS.
And yes, whizkidd is right, another advantage of smartphone is its powerful internet browser capability as I do like most in my SE P900.

To be honest, i'm not that much interested in those apps. Yes there are some good ones. But most of them for s60 are childish.

You're right guys, s60 does have some advantage to people who have certain mobile needs like you do, and it's affordable too. In my case I find using a mobile phone to do those stuff too difficult and awkward -- not very productive IMO.
Thanks for your inputs, perhaps when symbian or other smartphone technology becomes more mature and will become really practical to use then I'll start to consider symbian OS too, but for me, not now.

Good decision.
Frankly, I currently very very rare using my P900 and my K700 is always my best friend for going anywhere thanks to its light-weighted and small sizing but very entertaining. I have more than 20 aac songs, some pictures and some videos on my K700, but I'm not into gaming.

Take a look at all the handsets you mentioned, play with them for sometime in a showroom- and decide which one suits you best.
