Do you think it might just be a different version. What other languages are available?
On my UK S700 I have English, Deutsch, French, Iszulu and Sesotho options.
But if his phone is made for the Americas then it will feature English for North America and Portugese etc for Brazil so it might just be configured to be able to take advantage of Edge in the predominantly English speakng North American market where Edge is available!
Strange!! Like an Americanised S700i.

That's what I'm saying, phsychomantis. You cannot possibly have a cell phone capable of both protocols. At least so I believe.
Anyhow, goldenface, the language options are: English, Portuguese, Latin America Spanish (for the rest of the continent) and Automatic. Here's a picture:

And to prove this phone is NOT a s710 neither black, this is the data communications settings screen (when preferred language is set to English):

And when I set it to Portuguese (and finally being able to WAP in GPRS through the cell phone):

There are two "american" models, with FW US_1 languages options are English, Spanish (LatinAmerica) and French (for Canada) the US_2 has English, Spanish (LA) and Portuguese (for Brazil of course).

Could be, isn't it, phsychomantis?
There's but one city connected through EDGE in Brazil: Belo Horizonte in Minas Gerais state. In a future opportunity I will test whether this phone got something else besides GPRS.

When you set it to Portugese, what is the second setting on the picture?
It also say "e GSM", whatever is that? I think it says EDGE for a reason and not because the designer thought he would like to confuse everyone.

The screen you're talking about, goldenface, is the "preferred network". "e" in Portuguese is the adverb "and". So, "e GSM" means "and GSM". Was that what you asked?
