I would be very suprised if there were very many similarities on the inside of the two phones...
They share the same screen, maybe the same camera, but I think you'll find many other differences inside.
When I was a Honda Service Technician, it was easy to assume that many Honda products shared common parts but that was not the case. Honda develop thier cars/bikes/motors/etc to the n-th degree to suit individual markets and the same would be true of Sony Ericsson.
