Of course it shows the street names. It is pulling the details from the Google maps. Depenmding on the zoom level, you will see just the lager streets names, like highways. Zoom in further and you get all the details.
Why would you need this app? Consider yourself stuck in a construction zone, and no detour found. Juts pull the phone and navigate.

It's a good app, however it's very slow with cingular (but I believe still faster than T-mobile that I had before), I wish my P910a has EDGE
