In more developed countries, hard work, dedication and honesty are amply rewarded. Never mind the talent.
We have talent and diskarte. But entrepreneurship isn't our natural reaction, unlike, say,Taiwan. As a result, we have a glut of salarymen and therefore cheap labor. Why? A businessman-friend of mine, speaking from experience, says that corruption is a big part of it, making things difficult for the budding businessman.

@Scythe & @k4m!k4ze, thanks! I was one of the participants of the last editorial competition organized by the NCCA a few months ago. The competition had a theme: 'Corruption'. Unfortunately the judges didnt seem to like biting, critical commentary cartoons that reveal the negative side of our government. Only the cartoons that projected GMA fighting corruption were picked.

@manfran
regarding NCCA, how come i am not surprised you didn't get any awards for your work. with your gift, we are surely proud to have an esatonian member like you, and the most important factor of all, you are a Filipino.

GMA fighting corruption, ha ha... Man, just keep doing what your heart and conscience tell you to do. You'll gain respect that way in the long run. You know you're a cut above those other cartoonists, not just technically, but more importantly, attitude- wise.
