@nai:

i had some friends at school who were huge fans. i'm more of a casual fan myself, but i had seen two of the films i mentioned and the other two i got from general knowledge.

if you're a fan yourself, keep an eye out for a little aussie comedy film called "thunderstruck". it's essentially your average road trip movie which is loosely based around the story of a group of friends who make a promise that if one of them dies before the age of forty, they they will bury his body next to the grave of their idol, singer Bon Scott.

megadeath could probably be considered soft metal(?) while ac/dc are pretty much definitive hard rock.

Megadeth more mellow than Metallica? Doubt it very much. Songs like A Tout Le Monde and Holy Wars (The Punishment Due) sound more mellow until you listen to the lyrics. Still there are songs about very intense topics that rock way harder than Metallica ever rocked, like Sweating Bullets.

First of all don't forget that Dave Mustaine was Metallica's first guitarist before they sent him packing while they were still on tour. So if you hear similarities it is because of Mustaine. However if you ask me, Mustaine is a much better songwriter than any of the boys in Metallica. He tackles more real issues if you actually listen to his lyrics. Problem is his band isn't as good as Metallica, but who cares, since Metallica can't seem to keep their line up from having all sorts of break downs and they keep losing members.

So if you wanna compare Metallica to Megadeth, Metallica is the fan favorite, but Megadeth is the thinking man's Metallica. I love them both and I hope that explains who/what Megadeth are.

Additionally, I say you keep out of this discussion if you don't listen to Rock music, simply because AC/DC is likely to have more name recognition than Megadeth.
