Having a look at the design, it doesnt look slick at all and looks more like a slapdash effort. It looks like something the A-Team has conjured up, making use of bits and pieces of old phones and cameras and hammered it all together and decided that the front looked a bit bare and so slapped on a giant cybershot sticker on it (which would probably peel off after a few weeks). Dont get me wrong- I think the UI looks great and the functions are brilliant... but after using Moto RAZR and SLVR this would be in some respects a 'downgrade' on the design front. Obviously you cant judge the phone's build quality but looking at its predecessor(s) its likely that it would be far behind motorola's latest ones. Can you imagine an L7 with an SE interface with the same functions? Which would you prefer?

The P990a? I thought the P990 was only available in a P990i.
The A would be indicative of an 850 band. I would definitely go for it, in that case.

Well it looks like the big decision for me is either the Nokia N80, sony k800i or w810i. I think i would miss my sony but the nokia looks so nice and has as good as if not better functions than the sony phones.
I just dont know!

But I'm with you; although the K800/790a are impressive, I'd gladly skip the 3.2MP camera & 850Mhz band for the 2MP and UIQ3 smartphone with WiFi!

after reading this discussion i will go with ur decision dude. whis is the P990. only now i have to wait for the model to hit South African shores.

It's between the K790a and the W810a for me.
The only thing that stands in the way of the the W810a for me, is the 3.2 MP cam on the K790a

i hope it looks better in the flesh than the pics and why that cheap looking speaker grill it just stands out a mile and screams cheap and nasty to me.
but till i see it in the flesh se have a knack of making there phones look crap in pics and then when you see them in the shops they look like totally different phones
