O2 in the UK is advertising the P1 as July. Not sure when T-Mobile are doing it.

above you have mentioned the following in some part of your post
-SAME SCREEN,GRAPHICS CHIP,PROCESSOR AS P990 A YEAR AGO
is this true???? thought it was faster wit more ram, and equal to p1?
anyone gime the answer to this?
and does it have uiq 3.1?
It does have more ram (twice as much), same as the P1. That one factor will make both phones significantly faster and more capable/stable in multitasking.
There's a lot of rubbish being posted about the supposed need for a new processor etc - it's just not necessary. The first generation of these phones (M600, P990 etc) were slow to begin with because of their software, and the lack of memory issue. The software has since been improved drastically, and the memory issue has been dealt with in these new models also. There is absolutely no point in upping the processor spec just for the sake of it - all you'd see is a reduction in battery life (which nobody wants) and virtually no difference in speed for the majority of tasks. There's
nothing wrong with the processor they put in these UIQ3 devices in the first place, they're an efficient and capable component in a now mature platform.
UIQ3.1 - now why do you want that? Because it's a higher number? The reality is that the .1 in 3.1 only means that it has refinements suitable for
non touchscreen UIQ phones like the forthcoming Motorola RIZR Z8. It offers virtually no advantages for the W960, P1 etc.

Can you please explain to me how an ARM9 based Nexperia PNX4008 @ 208 MHz is better than the next generation ARM11 based TI OMAP2420 @ 330 MHz that is used in the Z8, N93, N93i N95 and E90 and that offers VGA 640x480 30fps video recording and encompasses a full 3D graphics and runs more efficiently as being unnecessary. Very soon we are going to see devices start appearing with the next generation OMAP series 3 chip.
Here is a link

Just look at what that will bring to our Data Devices as HSDPA approaches 3.8mbps on then on even faster that is current broadband speeds on our devices. Streaming video needs that sort of power and graphics to do this and those are the facts.
What sort of product life are these devices meant to have as if launched this autumn by the time these are under a Year old they will be unable to take advantage of HSDPA. Before any one tries to claim there is no difference or very little here are some facts for you
3G Maximum data transfer rate up to 384kbps
3.5G HSDPA Maximum data rate currently up to 1.8mbps
Which is nearly 6 times faster and will be getting faster up to 3.6mbps and there are already devices which are 7.2mbps able and no not a Nokia either.

I didn't say the nexperia was better than anything Dogman, I just said there was nothing wrong with it, and there isn't. If you feel those other processors are necessary then you go right ahead and buy another phone that's more suitably equipped for your needs. For me, the performance of my M600 is already exemplary, both in terms of speed and battery life. I look forward to it being improved further by the extra memory - which is the only real problem in the current UIQ3 hardware that I'm aware of.
You talk about the "facts" of streaming video - the simple truth is that the M600/W950/P990 already stream video perfectly well. I've got good quality TV on my mobile now, and amazingly that's achieved without HSDPA or a processor change, so where exactly are you going with that?
The fact that the processors in these phones won't be able to take full advantage of HDSPA speeds is a null point, an irrelevancy, as everyone's perfectly well aware that these phones aren't capable of receiving HDSPA anyway. I do believe that particular topic has already been done to death. Once again, if no HDSPA is a problem for you, don't buy one!

i'm so glad that sony doesn't make the same mistake, as they did back in the days when the first ipod was announced
now they are releaseing a competiter that is even better hardware wise - well done
the fact that its going to be cheaper, when selled with a contract, should give the iphone something to struggle with
thumbs up
