i am just putting things in perspective...if they put this hardware on the "P5", i would be really really MAD...but its not the P5...its the cheapest and smalest uiq phone ever, and it actually has some new stuff on it regarding more expensive phones like w960 or p1
again...read what UIQ 3.1 and UIQ 3.2 are about, and compare with UIQ 3.0...there is nothing really new on them...nothing that they canīt put on UIQ 3.0 if they want - and that is what it seems happened on the G series....

Will we get the same "layer" on the P1 on a later fw?

@ares:
Kindly refrain from using foul language.
No hard feelings, but after seeing these technical specs I have the feel SE had the G900 up its sleeves for a year already, being - except for the cam upgrade - just a P1i in a scarcely slimmer form factor.
Mildly speaking I consider it a real letdown that SE did not see any necessity to upgrade this really old 208MHz ARM9 which proofed to be the bottleneck with all UIQ phones ever since. No wonder they left out the by-now mandatory HSDPA capability as the CPU simply can't handle it.
Compared to this technical shortfall it is even neglectable that SE even packs the G-series really dated Opera Mobile 8(!).
The G-series could have been really nice advancements of SE's UIQ handset portfolio. However it is now clear that the G-series shall only represent additions to the lower end of the UIQ handset portfolio. Mid-level handsets catering more to kiddie's interested in Yahoo/MSN instant messaging frenzy than to tech-savvy folks who would like real technical enhancements to the P1i and the likes.
cheers,
hymie

Added in UIQ 3.1:
- Broader flexibility in softkey configurations
- SVG Tiny, Scalable Vector Graphics, for a richer graphical experience
- Task list facilitating user navigation
The new Task list is launched at once when you hold down the menu key and it displays the last used applications.
Added in UIQ 3.2:
- MMS postcard
- Instant Messaging (IM) client
- New API's including Java MSA subset and push email
- Enhanced media experience in the web browser
Don't have that much difference, don't you think?

hymie, i did not insult you.......
again, you are not seeing things has you should...if the G900 is out at the price estimated by mobile-review, the specs are more than nice...its a fact that it has upgraded specs over even the P1 so???? 320 euros?
regarding opera...well...there is another thread were you can see it even running on a P1...G900 release will happen on June...we shall see what version of opera it will bring...

To me it is most important that the device works very well, not that the specs. in the white paper is at the top. Remember this is a mid-range phone.

have seeing their specs, i'd say that it doesnt matter if it is uiq3.0, .1 or .2. the specs are ok for these mid end phones.
