o2 near me had sold out, CPW had them and were willing to sell on PAYG but when I asked about returns policy was told there was none unless faulty.

Gutted lol really wanted to try one but its a lot of money to spend when i dont know if i would get on with the keyboard for texting, all previous touch screen phones i have used (and it has been many) have been poor with this and led to me getting rid, and I know the iphone is meant to be better for typing but I need to be able to use it for a week to see really

Do O2 offer a 14 day return on PAYG iphones if they have been used?

Can you buy a PAYG 3G S online through Apple/O2/CPW? That would have to be subject to the distance selling regulations, meaning you'd have at least 14 days (I think) by law to return, regardless of any other policy.

Otherwise, I suggest you just visit your nearest shop a few times during lunch or whatever and have a good practice on the keyboard of a demo model. It's quite unique and very effective, I find - the multitouch means it's a lot faster and more natural than other on-screen keyboards (since it can register every keypress rather than just one at any one time) and the auto-correction is excellent too. The trick with it is to trust it, rather than trying to go back all the time and correct mistakes yourself - quite often I type absolute gibberish but it works out what letters I meant to type pretty well.

Yeah I think I will be getting one on PAYG at some point but not just yet. Probably xmas time. For now I think the 3.0 update will be enough for me sadly.

What colour did you guys go for?

I've ordered a white one and now I sort of regret it coz the black looks really good too!. I'm jus wondering what the return policy is, if I dont like the phone coz of its colour, can I return and exchange it?

Camcorderinfo.com just posted a review of the iPhone 3G S from the point of view of it as a camcorder replacement. Their conclusion was:

Apple-haters, you may want to look away. The iPhone 3G S performed very, very well under our battery of tests. The color accuracy rivaled that of camcorders in its class and better, including the high definition Flip and Sony Webbie. The low light performance was impressive, making it a good choice as a party camera, considering its diminutive size.

There's no getting around the fact that the iPhone 3G S is standard definition, and not HD. To be frank, that's a major strike. Look beyond your HDTV at home; even most video hosting sites are moving towards HD, and this footage is going to look small by comparison. Perhaps Apple could allow this phone to record HD with some firmware upgrade in the future (early reports indicate the hardware is capable of 720P), but it's likely that we'll have to wait for the fourth-generation iPhone.
