I've nothing to take pictures of so this is what i've resorted to.. haha.. my afternoon iced coffee.

I also have Camera Zoom FX app. I got it for free from amazon as one of their daily free apps.

Same shot, one with camera zoom FX app and one with the stock app. Both at 20mp.

Camera Zoom FX:

exactly.. there really isn't one.

I'll test them more in low light. but in bright light, there seems to be no difference.

Oh well, maybe wishful thinking on my part then but I do think it focuses quicker than the stock camera app.

They do look good anyway and at least it stops the focus issue

have a fun trip Bonovox..

so, my sunset is back for a new test! Stock vs. Zoom FX. I took 4 shots, 2 each all on tripod. In retrospect, I should have used the self timer so there was no wobble from my pressing the shutter. oh well.

Stock was on 20mp with auto WB, EV at 0 and ISO manually set at 50. Focus point was dead center at the silhouette of the tree. First shot is sharper and second seems to be a victim of camera shake. Lots of processing artifacts as you can see.

Camera Zoom FX was also set at 20mp, auto WB. But for the first photo, scene mode was set to night scene and night shot mode was on with EV set at 0. second photo, scene mode was set to landscape and night shot mode was off, with EV set at -2.0. I can say that camera zoom FX had a lot of trouble focusing on the same spot as the stock camera so I had to focus slight off center a bit. Even then, it was hit or miss. Strange.

In conclusion, i think stock camera app won this round. The image produced is more accurate in terms of color and brightness compared to what I saw with my eyes. I just wish Sony could improve on the post processing. For ISO 50, there shouldn't be that many processing artifacts..
