This is completely out of curiosity
In front of you, 3 panels for future Xperia

A: 21:9 4K + 1000nits peak + 60/120fps
or
B: not 21:9 + not 4K + 2000 nits peak + 1-120fps
or
C: not 21:9 + not 4K + same 1000nits peak + 1-120fps

also, a much higher PWM frequency, maybe?(at least much higher than 480Hz)

A> rest

No phone with oled even has 600Hz pwm. Notebookcheck tests it and chinese phones have even lower values than sony, they could not find those high values advertised.

Peak brightness means 1% APL. This is 1% of the screen lit. You will never have entire screen reaching this brightness. High brightness is bad for oled lifespam. The more you push pixels, the sooner they die. High brightness increases cpu activity, more battery is wasted, more heat generated and phone gets hot at point it needs to throttle few minutes later. Not gonna sustain 1200-1400 nits for 20-30min, probably no more than 10. Using Gorilla Armor is far more important. About LTPO, you only take advantage when you do not touch screen and there is static image displayed, otherwise it never goes down below 60Hz. My phone has 120Hz, I set 60. I do not feel any advantage of 120. Maybe motorola did not use it well, but I could not feel any difference.

If sony wants to get clients back, be more aggressive. How about using combo of all exmor T like 1/1.28" wide + 1/2" super wide + 1/2.3" periscope + 1/2.8" selfie, Large battery like 5500mAh, 16/512GB only variant, same VC of Pro(2020) , for $1300/€1300?

IF peak manual brightness can sustain 30 minutes and above (which also means better cooling system) under sunny day I'm all for it as well .

No more fun decoding game
In facts, it is very possible that I am skipping 1 VI again and hope to see anything that is better in late 2024 or 2025…hopefully

About display, at least I am hoping to see something that is bright enough to handle the sun during summer time, cooling system enhancement if needed.
For the camera, I just want to record things at night or in the dark… Wider/longer focal length is only a bonus to me

your device will never be able to sustain 1000, 1200, 1350 nits for that long. Unless you see HDR video, hardware is not going to push that much. If there is too much white images, hardware does not push that much. Also you need to be directly under strong sunlight, when it happens you probably have 4G/5G on (maybe BT as well). All this gonna put stress on the phone and make it very hot. To cool down, brightness is reduced after certain time.

BONUS: T808 (variant of imx888) seems to have 80% of FWC compared to imx989 that is more than 70% larger. And some people doubt this tech is relevant.

You cant really compare LYT-T808/IMX888 and IMX989 Plus, anyone used 989 now upgraded to LYT-900/IMX06A

About Xperia camera, they are focusing more on Macro and Portrait. Hardware upgrade is minimal, AI doing the lifting works.

I just say this tech is really effective to decrease gap between sensors of much different sizes.

Someone on weibo claims sony could increase FWC from 48.000 to 60.000 , something I doubt.

LYT900 is imx989 with new fab (22nm) and some HDR functions. No way fwc would increase 25% by doing this.

Where do I find papers of 888?
