Ok remember the email i sent to Voda concerning 'large data files' well this is the response i got which just goes to show they haven't got a clue what I'm talking about.

Message: I am having problems with
downloading any files via WAP (on
GPRS and GSM) with a filesize of
over 3kb. I have heard that there
maybe a data limit set on Vodafone
and was wondering if that is the
case and if so would it be
possible to increase this data
limit.

Dear Edward
Thank you for your email.
Please could i ask if I could clarify this fault.
You have two APN's ( Access point names ) assigned to your number. These are for WAP and Internet access.
A WAP call requires a WAP browser, this is present on your handset and allows the display of pages written in WML format. This is a remote access method and you are unable to physically download pages to be stored in the phones temporary ( cashe ) memory. Emails can be viewed and replied to but are not actually stored on the handset. You have remote access to your email account server where the email is stored.
Internet access allows you to view HTML pages on a Laptop or PDA and store 'Cookie' files on your equipment. You have full internet access and can therefore download information as the memory capacity on the device used is far greater that a mobile phone handset.
Are you having problems downloading pictures, attachments, data from the internet ?
Regards
Julian, Customer Management. Vodafone Limited

edwardm,
what the guy is saying is you need to clarify what your doing so he can determine the fault.
for all he knows you could be accessing the internet via your Laptop using the phone as a dial up modem...you havent been specific enough.
your reply should state that your using WAP on your handset and are unable to download a .gif image over 3KB in size but can successfully download one under this size...the wap page address will obviously be usefuul for them to test at their end and the make of your handset with software is also a bonus to include.
not defending Vodafone but the reply from them is actaully quite impresssive from a customer services standpoint.

Yeah you're right I can see what he's asking. I only quickly wrote the email and I knew I should have been more specific. Generally though if you were to phone Voda they wouldn't know what your talking about with regards to most things GPRS. They tend to cut me off once a month and it takes 5 phone calls to get connected again.
Will mail them again with all the details and see what they say! Will let you know.
