Your right, I was just saying that I know its not possible due to all the market differences and consumer tastes. As well as technological capabilty.

As the creator of this whacked out thread, I am glad I got post 200

This just shows what a silly thread it is, you are trying to get post numbers?

If you had any sense yazan you would understand that Japan is about 30 years ahead of the west! (exaggeration)

Vanquish

1st of all

Congrats on the T610

2nd of all

Its not only the technological advance, its the consumer demand, also the technological advance is a result of the consumer demand as well, not completely but it is fueled by the desire for newer technology that the majority in Japan have.

No its not, its the capabilities of the networks and capabilities of the electronics.

We could all scream Sony Ericsson release a 6 megapixel phone but it isn't gonna happen because we arent advanced enough!

So your saying, SE can release a 6 MP phone in Japan but not here.

How so,

The desire for newer technology accelerated the growth of the technological markets in Japan thereby fueling them to create more advanced phones to suit the now more advanced environment, that has HDTV etc.

However ure megapixel analogy is idiotic, how are we not advanced enough to use a 6 MP phone.

No, i'm saying that as an example.

I'm saying that the capabilties of the networks in Japan, and all this about manufacturing, importation and exportation etc. all add up to make Japan ahead of us in terms of technology.

It's not just one feature, its where the phone comes from, if the network can cope with it, if Sony Ericsson can invest the money etc. etc.

There is a bigger demand and a more capable consumer market in Japan than the west and we need to catch up. Two completely different markets and probably two completely different executives controlling two parts of the world.

Japan is also a rich country, which allows it to invest into technological advances.

I am saying my friend that Sony Ericsson cannot blow all their money into a phone that they are unsure anyone will actually buy.

Since the debate over innovation seems to have ended I shall leave it where it rests ...

As for the Far East, the matter isn't quite as clear cut as we would sometimes see it.

The Japanese are a somewhat fickle people and they do follow trends and fads in a way that Europeans don't. Such fads tend to have a shorter shelf life in Japan than they do in Europe hence they latch onto something new more frequently than we do.

The majority of Japanese society uses the advanced features their mobiles give them. In Europe it is still very much a case of teenagers to twentysomethings using such features on a regular basis.

It should also be pointed out that Japan isn't actually all that far ahead of Western Europe, when it comes to mobile phones, anymore. If you look at the latest FOMA handsets you will see that they are reasonably comparable to current European 3G handsets.

South Korea seems to be the really advanced market, with Samsung pioneering the way forward wth a range of implementations e.g. higher and higher camera resolutions; HDDs, etc.

I think we shall probably see a lot more convergeance of the European and Japanese markets through WCDMA e.g. V800/802 & Sharp 902.
