@darrengf: Welcome back! Greece? It must be wonderful. You must also visit BALI island, here in Indonesia, some time soon..it's as good as Greece..
Anyway, so how's this EROM story going next?

When I got mine 2 months ago, R1BC001,surely I got frequent WSOD. But then I took off the battery for at least 1-6 hours. I did it on regular basis ONLY after mine is 100% fully-charged. Believe it or not, no WSOD happened afterwards. When SEUS released R1ED001, I noticed that WSOD never happened up to now although I don't do the battery 'out' the phone so often. Also, when turning off and on my K800i, I noticed NO MORE WSOD, the screen just displays the logo and then 'off'. Before, in R1BC, I always saw this white flash before the screen shuts down. During navigation, I've never got any single WS0D at all ever since my update to R1ED. So, in what occassion will this EROM affect the phone? During charging, USB plug-in, file transfer, or turning on-off, never do I got this WSOD or red-blinking at all. All just went OK. Or any combination action that could possibly lead to it?
And about many events of 'operation failed' when accessing Applications and Games folders, is it also EROM-related? The big issue is why didn't ALL people experience incidents with this EROM-related stuff? Some did, some didn't. I guess, there's an 'X' imfetus factor. May be those affected have charged the phone when it's almost 100% dried-up or might unplug the charger while opening Java apps? Or taking out the battery too immediately when facing 'frozen menu' or else.. and the fact that SE releases R1ED001 without EROM upgrade must be well-thought, and intended, right? SE won't harm its users in case this EROM stuff affect the life of the phone..
So, personally, the best way is: just enjoy this handsome phone! Why bothers as no top problems we have so far? This R1ED001 is just awesome...really great. Or Am I just lucky? Correct me if I'm wrong. Perhaps, a friend of mine was correct when he said 'buy the phone a year after the release as it is stable already'..
I'm sure the new owners of new-batch K800i will never be 'dizzier' about this EROM-GDFS 'conflict'..lol..

The WSOD is caused by a the GDFS (Phones own instructions)

When you plug the phone into the charger the GDFS tells the screen to come on, show chaging and do what it needs to. This is the same for everything and anything you plug in, Switch on / switch of etc.

However the GDFS and EROM seem not to like each other, or and not truely compatible. However from you removing the battery and doing what you have done, you may have saved your own phone.

Wha you hav been doing was issued to service centers as a Temp fix, before the EROM was issued.

Wow, still no update. Been away for a few days and was certain SEUS would have been updated by the time I'd got back. Obviously not. Oh well, what's a few more days, weeks, months!

Just upgraded from Orange firmware to R1EG001 via Wotan.

Previously, email couldn't be sent via Orange's smtp server with a non-Orange from address, apparently because the email client always wanted to authenticate with the server even though no username or password.

With this firmware, I can.

Also there were a few irritances with Opera Mini before which are gone now (always wanting to write in ALLCAPS and no Sentence Case; couldn't use Google search on homepage because softkey options to allow internet connections would be disabled).

You got that right. The longest part of the whole thing was waiting for my credit to come from them.

Not if you don't want the vanilla SE firmware. I prefer the Voda branding and don't want to lose it. So I'll patiently wait for an update. As it is I don't have any problems that stop me using it on a daily basis so I'll just wait. No rush here...
