How do you guys set it up so that when you go on vodafone live it uses wap but on other website it uses GPRS? When connecting to my exchange server it needs to be GPRS. Any ideas would be EXTREAMLY grateful!

Hi Apolla

Just to clarify for you, yep some of the billing operations have moved to India but there are still some billing operators from the UK still online, the rumour about moving all call centres out there is just that, a rumour. 24/7 phone support will still be there albeit at a reduced headcount of people on the phones.

I don't recall my own or anybody elses SIM free P990i from Expansys being network locked or tied into a contract.
In fact they (and loads of other suppliers too) seem to be doing a nice little trade in these apparently non existent unlocked, unbranded handsets.

you must of paid nearly 600 notes for yours then?!

and the sim free handsets will be so hard to use and full of glitches...

as you can see.

get it on a contract with Voda and if anything does'nt work you will get the support, and even if you break it you get a new one

Are the UK handsets still EU stock? What l want to know is if the max volume when listening to music is still restricted like the sim-free phones are? Realise this may not be an easy question to answer, but hope someone can.

How so?

Harder to use (is the interface different to branded handsets?)

Glitches? Same for branded AND unbranded handsets. Difference being that the UNbranded handsets will get their updates quickers (as branded handsets will need to await approval from operators first).

Break it and get a new one (only if you have insurance). You can take out independant insurance or possibly even have your fone covered by your home contents insurance.

And for an unbraded/sim free phone you still get support from SE...

But let me put it this way though - if you get a branded handset with a contract look at the total cost over the lifetime of the contract - I think in many cases you'll be looking at a similar figure if not more.
In addition I already have a contract (same one I've had for years) and I offset the cost of buying SIM free with selling on the free unwanted upgrade handsets my network kindly throws at me every once in a while.

Where on earth do you get this from? Do you work for Vodafone or something.
My SIM free handset is pretty glitch free thanks. Typically with branded handsets operator customisations cripple and break a devices functionality, including introducing increased stability issues in itself. Look at Voda with the M600i - they even saw fit to remove the task manager functionality!

Personally I have never had any support worth bothering with from any network with any handset. I could probably tell most CSR's more about the handsets they supply than they could thank you very much.
Besides my handset (as do network branded models) comes with a nice 24 month warranty from SE, in addition to my statutory rights as a consumer under the sale of goods act from the retailer. I'm am in fact more comfortable knowing I'm safe if anything should go wrong than if I had to deal with a network as a middle man.
